This project was for Dawson College's SPACE initiative, which aims to create a space outside of the classroom that encourages discussions and collaboration among students no matter their discipline of study. Each year they present a theme that students are encouraged to create around.
We were tasked with designing a promotional poster and web ad to fit the 2022/2023 theme: "What If?"

Designing an illustration around such a broad theme was definitely a challenge and it took me a few iterations before I stumbled upon a composition and subject matter that creatively stimulated me.
Thumbnail 4 is where I finally had my aha moment, and I just ran with the aggressive, distorted imagery in my subsequent composition and color explorations. I had a lot of fun seeing what I could do with the concept of the distortion of reality and presenting it in a more abstract and interpretational sense.
Concevoir une illustration autour d'un thème aussi vague a été un véritable défi, et il m'a fallu plusieurs itérations avant de trouver une composition et un sujet qui me stimulent sur le plan créatif.
C'est avec le quatrième concept que j'ai enfin eu mon moment de révelation, et je me suis contenté d'utiliser l'imagerie agressive et déformée dans mes compositions et mes explorations de couleurs suivantes. J'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à voir ce que je pouvais faire avec le concept de la distorsion de la réalité et à le présenter de manière plus abstraite et interprétative.
